RE: 2nd Water tank on a Seneca?

I'm going to install a new tank fitting on the bottom for the pump suction. As well I'll install another vent/overflow at front of the tank which I'll tie together with one of the other ones at the rear and rise up as high as I can go before going down through the bottom of the compartment, hopefully leaving less water on the hills behind us. I'll plug the other two. The result should be 25 to 30% more usable capacity.

RE: 2nd Water tank on a Seneca?

The stated capacities given online are not corect. The actual capacities are as I previously posted. If you are near a dealer that has a seneca in stock go there and measure the tank for yourself. 4 robertson head screws to remove panel will allow ample access. I am right the Jayco site is wrong. I have a 08 34ss in my driveway to prove it. My unit is about 37 to 38 US usable gallons which is a far cry from the 81.5 you think you're going to have.

RE: 2nd Water tank on a Seneca?

The capacity listed for the Seneca is 65 gallons including the 10 for the water heater which leaves 55----- Except that the actual water tank is perhaps 10 inches high and the suction to the pump comes off the side at the bottom so the pump sucks air when it's down to about 1 or 1 1/2 inches fro the bottom. The vent and overflow tubes are installed in the top but the fittings protrude about 3/4 of an inch into the tank preventing the top portion from filling. The vent /overflow tubes on mine are towards the rear and with the tank being fairly wide when you travel water sloshes out the overflow and when you go up hills the water freely flows out. We travel on the Alaska highway which has many hills which will drain an additional inch or so from a full tank. All the above results in my 08 Seneca havibg only about 37 us gallon usable capacity-- the rest is either on the highway behind us or still in the tank utterly useless to us.

RE: Seneca water heater leak...

Same thing happened to our new 08 34. The lines to the DHWT jiggle up and down when driving on bumpy roads (Alaska Highway). We dryed up the carpet asap with no apparent permanent damage. I then installed an upright 3/4 x 1 1/2 plywood tight to the lines and fastened the lines with copper clips to stop the lines from moving up and down. We just got back from a trip from Whitehorse to Prince George return without the problem requring.

RE: Jayco Seneca Springs

If I were you I would not buy the one on the lot but instead factory order one that would have the options you want etc. The factory order would probably have the 19000 lbs springs and the 1800 watt inverter as well as a few other minor tweeks. You'll probably find that it won't cost you more.

Re: Snow Snake question above, why don't you bake up something to prove it works, maybe a frozen pie or pizza?

RE: Jayco Customer First Roadside Assistance

How far will they go for free? What if it's 150 miles for the tire company to your location?

Jayco Customer First Roadside Assistance

Any comments on this service? Coach-Net 24/7 for one year is included by Jayco. Things that Jayco states in their brochure "Free tire changes". Anyone have experience with this? Is "free" absolutely free?

RE: New Jayco Seneca 34SS

As of November 07 the senecas are equipped with the 19,000 springs. I also noticed that Jayco increased the overall height of unit to 144" which is 1.5" higher that the 06's (heavier springs = more height). As far as the sway bars are concerned I saw on the GM web site that the sway bars are standard on the MH C5500 although I'm not sure if the stock GM ones were on previous years but inadequate for the application? We'll probably have to wait to find out. 28 days to go.

RE: New Jayco Seneca 34SS

I'm thinking about buying the "Scan Gauge" for my new yet to be picked up 08 seneca 34ss. Does anyone recommend this or other product? Does it display which gear the tyranny's in?

RE: 2008 Jayco Seneca HD 35GS Rear Springs

I will be picking up our new seneca 34ss in a month or so. Is there a good pre-delivery check list that I can use for these units? Also in light of the various discussions regarding suspension issues is there a good pre-delivery test to perform to determine upfront if our unit will require upgrading? For example: I intend to test drive on a divided highway to get up to 70mph or so to see if our unit has the vibration problem that has been discussed on this forum. Can I determine if the tires are out of round by jacking the wheels off the ground and then spining the wheel to see if it's out of round? Should I load up all the tanks before the test drive? What other things can I do to check out the unit prior to hand-over to me? Any help is greatly appreciated.

RE: 2008 Jayco Seneca HD 35GS Rear Springs

Does any-one know if a seneca 34ss was being manufactured by Jayco right now which springs would it have? Or does any-one know what other improvements either jayco or gm has done in say the last 6 months on the coach and chassis?

RE: New Jayco Seneca 34SS

Hi, Thanks to all who replied re our new senecs 34ss. Our dealer told us they checked with jayco regarding a compartment big enough for a spare and were told by jayco that there is no room for the spare. I think that jayco probably just doesn't want to be involved in the spare business so they always answer no when in fact a spare will fit. Where we live (Yukon) I can't imagine traveling without a spare. If we had to call a tire repair service 350 miles from nowhere it would cost a fortune and ar least a day lost and more likely 2 days. As far as the enhancements to the suspension system goes I think Chevy has added as standard front and rear stabilizer bars as standard on the 08 kodiak chassis.

New Jayco Seneca 34SS

I've just ordered a new seneca 34ss for pick-up mid march. It's an 08 on an 08 chassis being manufactured right about now. It doesn't come with a spare and apparently a spare will not fit in to any of the storage compartments. Does anybody have any sugestions ie hitch mount tire carrier? We are very exited and can hardly wait to pick it up. Our decision to go with a super-c was based mostly on safety features such as abs brakes, air bags and the fact that when driving you're in a proper truck cab as oposed to a class A. If any-one has any suggestions for accessorizing the unit we'd be happy to hear. Thanks
